What does a first consultation cost?
An initial consultation is [FEE]. You'll know the cost before you book, and you're under no obligation to hire the firm afterward.
Does filling in the consultation form make you my lawyer?
No. Sending the form, an email, or leaving a voicemail doesn't create an attorney–client relationship. That begins only when you and the firm both sign an engagement letter. Until then, please don't rely on anything on this site as advice for your situation.
Is what I tell you confidential?
Lawyers owe duties of confidentiality to people who consult them, even if they don't go on to hire the firm. Even so, please don't put confidential details in the website form. A brief outline is enough; the details can wait for the consultation.
Why do you ask for the names of the other people involved?
So we can run a conflict check. If the firm already represents or has advised someone on the other side of your matter, we can't advise you, and it's better for everyone to know that before you share anything sensitive.
How do your fees work?
It depends on the matter. Some work, such as a set of estate planning documents, suits a flat fee agreed in advance. Other work, such as a contested divorce, is usually billed by the hour. Either way, the fee arrangement is explained in writing before any work begins.
How quickly will I hear back?
We reply to consultation requests within [RESPONSE TIME]. If your matter has a court date or filing deadline coming up, say so in the form or call [PHONE] so it can be looked at first.
Where do you practice?
